Dr. Winnie S.M. Tang is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of ESRI China (Hong Kong) Limited, part of the ESRI group, which is the world leader in geographic information system (GIS) software. ESRI was founded in 1969 with its headquarter in California, USA. With 36 years of solid reputation, ESRI is one of the world’s top 100 software companies.
Dr. Tang is one of the recognized and highly regarded leaders in information technology industry in Asia. Over the past ten years, Dr. Tang has delivered numerous lectures, seminars and talks, sharing her knowledge and experience in the latest IT and GIS applications. She is Guest Professor, Honorary Lecturer and Honorary Advisor of a number of universities and institutions in the region including The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Baptist University, University of Macau, and North China Institute of Water Conservancy and Hydroelectric Power. She is a member of World Summit Award Expert Panel 2005.
She serves as Chair of the Panel of Advisors to the Cyberport Institute of Hong Kong, Board Director of China Association for Geographic Information System, Vice President of Internet Professional Association, Co-Chairperson of HKWPEA Mainland Liaison Committee, and Treasurer of Hong Kong Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, etc.. The ‘Do IT Campaign’ was one of the very first post-SARS recovery initiatives where Dr. Tang served as the Convener for the ‘IT in Health Forum’, that was held on 30 July 2003.
She is appointed by Commerce, Industry and Technology Bureau of the HKSAR Government as a member of ‘Digital 21 Strategy Advisory Committee’. She has also been appointed by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) as a member of the Task Force on Facilitating the Adoption of Wireless and Mobile Services and Technology. She serves as Director and Secretary (Board of the Directors) of Kwai Tsing District Community Development Fund, Committee Member of Digital Solidarity Fund, Vice President of Southern District Recreation and Sports Association, Vice President of Hong Kong Girl Guides Kwai Chung District Association, Co-opted Member of Traffic and Transport Committee, Southern District Council, and Committee Member of Wah Fu and Pokfulam Area Committee, etc
